Swastikas were ancient symbols. However, the symbol has acquired a bad reputation due to ignorant people who do not know that the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSGWP or Nazis) did not call their symbol a "swastika." NSGWP members called their symbol a hakenkreuz (hooked cross) and they used it to represent crossed S-letters for their socialism under their National Socialist German Workers Party. See the work of the noted symbologist Dr. Rex Curry (author of "Swastika Secrets"). American socialists (e.g. Edward Bellamy, Francis Bellamy and the Theosophical Society) influenced German socialists in the use of the swastika to represent socialism. The ignorance about the "swastika" (hakenkreuz) was predicted long ago when Professor Max Muller discouraged Dr. Heinrich Schliemann in the careless use of the term "swastika" and referred to such ignorant people as "the vulgus profanum." The same people are ignorant of the fact that German national socialists did NOT refer to themselves as "nazis." NSGWP members referred to themselves as "socialists" (hence their use of the of the hakenkreuz to represent crossed S-letters for their "socialism"). Such people continue to defame the "swastika" symbol by their ignorance of the hakenkreuz and other symbols, rituals, meaning and terminology under German national socialists. For example, there is widespread ignorance of the fact that the German socialist's stiff-armed salute (and robotic chanting in unison) came from American socialists (Francis Bellamy, cousin of Edward Bellamy), and that the stiff-armed salute had been used in the USA's Pledge of Allegiance for about 3 decades before German socialists borrowed it. German socialists defamed the American salute as they defamed the "swastika," yet only because of ignorant people who still do not know the history. The stiff-armed salute developed because the early Pledge of Allegiance began with a military salute that was then extended outward to point at the flag (it was not an "ancient Roman salute" -another debunked myth repeated by the ignorant vulgus profanum). The above are part of the discoveries by Dr Curry (author of "Swastika Secrets").

Dr. Rex Curry's work is supported by the book "The Third Reich in the Ivory Tower: Complicity and Conflict on American Campuses" by Stephen H. Norwood (Cambridge University Press). However, Norwood's book displays ignorance of the early stiff-armed salute for the Pledge of Allegiance. The book is supposed to be a chilling chronicle that many Americans showed enthusiasm for the National Socialist German Workers Party. The chill would have been bigger if Norwood had known about and discussed America's Nazi salute and its origins in earlier American national socialism. An improved sequel to Norwood's book could be titled "The Third Reich in education: Complicity and Conflict on American schoolyards from 1892 in children daily from the age of six onward".
According to Norwood the "stiff-armed Nazi salute and Sieg Heil chant" was "modeled on a gesture and a shout" that Hanfstaengl had used as a Harvard football cheerleader (Norwood cites Karl Dietrich Bracher, German Dictatorship, 117; Peter Conradi, Hitler's Piano Player: The Rise and Fall of Ernst Hanfstaengl, Confidant of Hitler, Ally of FDR (New York, 2004), 45, 63). Here is a funny point about Norwood (and other authors) and Hanfstaengl: It is possible that both were ignorant of the Nazi gesture's origin in the USA's Pledge of Allegiance (written in 1892). Putzi did not grow up in the USA, so when he encountered the gesture later at Harvard, he might not have realized it came from robotic chanting daily in government schools for about two decades prior in the USA. Norwood, on the other hand, is young enough that if he was educated in government schools (socialist schools) in the USA, then he would be ignorant about the pledge, and Norwood is similar to others who write about the Nazi salute (other than Dr. Rex Curry), in that Norwood failed in his research to discover that the gesture was part of daily robotic chanting in government schools in the USA for about three decades prior to German national socialism.
Edward Bellamy and Francis Bellamy were American national socialists and they influenced German national socialists, their rituals, dogma and symbols (e.g. the use of the swastika as crossed S-letters for socialism). Norwood (and all the other authors) seem to be ignorant about that too (and about the role of Ernst Hanfstaengl). http://rexcurry.net/swastika-hanfstaengl.JPG

Aside from that, the Pledge was part of a larger program written by Francis Bellamy, and the larger program included hymns, bible references, preaching, et cetera, as well as including the phrase "under God." For crying out loud, Francis Bellamy was a Christian socialist and a religious wako. He was not a friend of atheism. That "under God" was not in a specific part of the Pledge of Allegiance program was practically an oversight. The only reason Bellamy MIGHT have opposed the addition is that he did not want other people altering his pledge and messing up the flow. That is ALL.

Judge Napolitano in the video link below agrees with Dr. Rex Curry that the USA Pledge was the origin of the Nazi salute. Another link shows another video (on Youtube) in which a harassed student (in a government school / socialist school with daily chanting) also agrees with what Curry has been saying for a decade or more: that the USA Pledge was the origin of Nazi salute. Francis Bellamy was the author of the Pledge of Allegiance and the origin of the Nazi salute that was used in the early pledge's ritualized daily chanting / brainwashing. Francis and his cousin (Edward Bellamy) were both national socialists in the USA and influenced the National Socialist German Workers Party, its dogma, rituals and symbols (including the use of the swastika as crossed "S" letters for "socialism"). It is hoped that the two people above (Napolitano and the student) and others will also explain Curry's discovery that the swastika was used as crossed "S" letters for "socialism" (under German National Socialism and elsewhere).

See the video at
The original pledge program did have "under God" in it, along with prayers, hymns and other religious references. Francis Bellamy was a Christian socialist and a religious wako.
People who claime that the pledge did not origianally have "under God" in it are being deceptive or ignorant, in that the pledge was part of a larger program.

Adolf Hitler touted Bavarian Soviet Republic & Swastika as S-letters for "socialism"
At the turn of 1918-19, and unmentioned in "Mein Kampf," Hitler wore a
red brassard and supported the short-lived Bavarian Soviet Republic,
according to Thomas Weber in the book "Hitler's First War" (Oxford
University Press, 450 pages, $34.95). Perhaps that played a role in
the German National Socialist leader adopting a swastika symbol that
had been used by Soviet socialists on currency with the dates 1917 and

Joseph Goebbels, future Propaganda Minister for Germany's National
Socialism, compared Lenin to Hitler in a favorable light as late as
1925 according to a New York Times article printed in that year.
